TERMS OF SERVICE

The agreement for using Basecast

Version 2026-10-30 · Last updated 30 October 2026

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Basecast (“we”, “us”) for using basecast.net and everything it does (“Basecast”). Basecast turns recorded video, such as a religious service or community event, into podcast episodes, and can publish them to Podbean. Our Privacy policy explains how we handle your information and forms part of these terms.

You accept these terms when you tick “I agree” in Basecast after signing in. If you don’t agree, don’t use Basecast.

STEVENSON, PAUL GEOFFREY, ABN 66 124 187 889

2. Who can use Basecast

You must be 18 or older. If you use Basecast for a religious or community group or other organisation, you confirm that you’re allowed to accept these terms for it, and “you” includes that organisation.

3. Accounts and teams

  • Keep your login secure, and tell us at support@basecast.net if you think someone else has used it.
  • Each podcast has one owner, who is responsible for it, its plan and its team. Owners and admins can invite people and choose their roles. Everyone on a team must follow these terms.
  • Every account also has a private Clip Creator, a free workspace that makes audio but never publishes it.
  • Basecast support staff can open any podcast (but not your Clip Creator) to help its team or to set up and run a podcast we host for you.

4. Plans and billing

  • Each podcast has its own plan. Your Clip Creator is always free. Prices, and what each plan includes, are shown when you choose a plan.
  • Paid plans are sold through Stripe, which takes the payment, adds the tax for your location at checkout, and sends your invoices. Stripe’s own terms also apply to your payment.
  • Paid plans renew automatically each month or year, as you choose, until cancelled. You authorise the charge for each renewal.
  • Moving to a dearer plan, or from monthly to annual billing, starts straight away, and you pay the difference for the rest of the current period. Moving to a cheaper plan starts at the end of the current period.
  • You can cancel at any time from Account & settings › Plan › Manage. The plan then ends at the end of the period you’ve paid for.
  • Deleting or deactivating a podcast cancels its plan straight away, with no refund for the rest of the period.
  • Apart from that, we don’t refund part periods, unless the law requires it (see Consumer guarantees).
  • If a renewal payment fails, the podcast keeps its plan for up to 3 days after the paid period while the payment is retried. When a plan ends, the podcast moves to the free plan, which can’t publish to Podbean.
  • We’ll tell owners at least 30 days before a price change applies to their plan. We may change the free plan, and what plans include, at any time.

5. Plan limits and fair use

Each plan has limits, such as the size of an upload, the length of an episode and the number of clips a month, shown on the plan page. We also limit things that could be misused, such as how many invitations a podcast can send each month. Don’t try to get around a limit, for example by spreading one podcast’s work across several accounts.

6. Your content

  • You keep ownership of everything you upload and make with Basecast: your videos, intros, outros, artwork, episode details and the finished audio (“your content”).
  • You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process and change the format of your content, and to send it to Podbean when you publish, only as needed to run Basecast for you. For a podcast we host for you (the Publisher plan), the licence also lets us publish your episodes on our Podbean account and distribute them to podcast apps.
  • The licence ends when your content is deleted from Basecast, except for episodes already published, which stay where they were published until they’re removed there.
  • We won’t use your content to promote Basecast without your permission.
  • If you send us ideas or feedback, we can use them without owing you anything.

7. Your responsibilities for your content

You’re responsible for your content, and you promise that:

  • You have the rights to upload, change and publish it, including any music, readings or video in it. A service or event often includes copyrighted songs: making sure you hold the licences needed to record and podcast them (for example from a music licensing body) is up to you.
  • The people who can be seen or heard in it have agreed to it being recorded and published, including a parent or guardian for any child.
  • Your episode titles, descriptions and artwork are accurate and lawful.

8. Acceptable use

Don’t use Basecast to, or try to:

  • break the law, or help someone else break it;
  • upload or publish content that infringes anyone’s rights, or that’s defamatory or misleading;
  • upload or publish content that’s hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit, or that exploits or sexualises children;
  • send spam, including invitations to people who haven’t asked to join;
  • get into accounts, podcasts or systems you’re not allowed to, test or probe our security, or get around limits, billing or access controls;
  • upload malware, or interfere with or overload Basecast, Podbean or other users;
  • scrape Basecast, or access it by automated means other than the website itself;
  • copy, resell or reverse-engineer Basecast, except as the law allows.

9. Complaints and takedowns

If you think content on Basecast infringes your copyright or other rights, or breaks these terms, email support@basecast.net with: your name and contact details, the podcast or episode, what the content is and why you think it’s unlawful or infringing, and, for copyright, what work you own. We’ll look into it, and may remove the content, ask the podcast’s team to fix it, or suspend the account. We’ll suspend the accounts of people who infringe repeatedly.

10. Other services

Basecast works with services run by others: Podbean (where your podcast is hosted), Stripe (payments) and Google (if you sign in with Google). Their own terms apply to how you use them. If you connect your own Podbean account, you’re responsible for it and for keeping its client ID and secret valid. We aren’t responsible for those services, their changes or their outages, though we’ll do what we reasonably can to keep Basecast working with them.

11. Podcasts we host for you (Publisher plan)

  • On the Publisher plan, we create your podcast on our Podbean account and run it there for you. You decide what’s published and the podcast’s details, and we act on your instructions. Our support staff turn on its listing in podcast apps after your first episode.
  • If you leave: within 60 days after the plan ends, ask us at support@basecast.net and we’ll move the podcast to your own Podbean account, where Podbean allows it, or give you its episodes, artwork and feed details so you can move it elsewhere. After those 60 days, we may unpublish it.

12. Basecast isn’t a backup

Uploaded videos are deleted automatically 1 day after upload, and finished audio files 14 days after they’re made. Download anything you want to keep. Keep your own copies of your recordings and episodes.

13. Availability and changes

We work to keep Basecast running, but we don’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. Publishing depends on Podbean being available. We may change, add or remove features. If a change takes away something you’ve paid for, we’ll tell you, and you can cancel.

14. Suspension and ending

  • You can stop using Basecast at any time: delete a podcast from Account & settings, or your account from Your account.
  • We may suspend or end your access, or remove content, if you break these terms, if your use puts others or Basecast at risk, or if the law requires it. We’ll tell you why and give you a chance to fix it first, unless the breach is serious or the law stops us.
  • What happens to your information afterwards is in the Privacy policy. Sections 6, 7 and 15 to 20 continue after these terms end.

15. Consumer guarantees

Our services come with guarantees that can’t be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, and you may have similar rights where you live. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes those rights. Apart from them, and to the extent the law allows, Basecast is provided “as is”, without any other promise or warranty.

16. Liability

  • Where the law lets us limit our liability for failing to meet a consumer guarantee, it’s limited to supplying the service again, or paying for it to be supplied again.
  • Otherwise, and to the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim about Basecast is limited to what you paid us for the podcast concerned in the 12 months before the claim (or A$100, if you paid nothing), and we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profits, revenue or data.
  • These limits don’t apply to liability the law doesn’t allow to be limited, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence. Our liability is reduced to the extent you caused the loss.

17. Claims about your content

If someone makes a claim against us because of your content or your breach of these terms, you’ll cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim, except to the extent we caused them.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We’ll give at least 30 days’ notice, by email or in Basecast, before a change that materially affects you applies, and you’ll be asked to accept the new version in Basecast. If you don’t, you can cancel and stop using Basecast.

19. Law

These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia, and you and we accept the courts of New South Wales. That doesn’t take away rights you have under the law where you live.

20. General

  • These terms are the whole agreement between you and us about Basecast.
  • If part of them can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • We may transfer these terms to whoever takes over Basecast, and will tell you if we do. You can’t transfer them without our agreement.
  • We’ll send notices to the email address on your account.
